This is a state organization which operates in line with policies of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to promote and maintain community health and prevent disease (especially at secondary and tertiary levels). It is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services.

To ensure the provision of quality healthcare services to all members of the community, regardless of sex or socioeconomic status

Basic responsibilities

1. Supervision and evaluation of the processes for diagnosis and treatment of diseases at clinics, hospitals, laboratories, etc in state, private, and charity sectors

2. Ensuring the safety and continuous promotion of the quality of treatment services

3. Providing equitable access to treatment services at different levels of the health services network

4. Increasing the accountability of the health system

5. Increasing the availability of efficacious and cost-effective health services, especially in the treatment sector to all members of the community

6. Ensuring the suitable appropriation of specialized human resources and medical equipment throughout the province
