This center was established as one of the subdivisions of IUMS Chancellery in view of Iran's status as the tenth most accidentprone

country in the world.

The center is entrusted with planning for damage containment, relief and rescue operations at times of accidents and unforeseen

natural calamities.

Stationed along inter-city roadways in the province, ambulances with a full range of emergency care medical equipment (popularly known as the 115 Service) play an important role in rapid transfer of traffic casualties to hospitals.

Operating on a 24-hour basis, the Center for Disaster Management and Medical Emergencies is responsible for coordination of patient transfer between different levels of the health system.

An airborne emergency service employing helicopters transfers patients in need of critical care to appropriate centers for treatment.
